OANDA Setup Guide

Get your API credentials in a few simple steps.

Before You Start

  • You need an OANDA account (practice or live)
  • We recommend starting with a practice account for testing
  • Your API key is encrypted locally and never sent to our servers

Create an OANDA Account

If you don't already have one, sign up for an OANDA account. We recommend starting with a practice (demo) account.

Log in to OANDA

Go to fxtrade.oanda.com and sign in to your OANDA account.

Open API Settings

Click your account name in the top right corner, then select "Manage API Access" from the dropdown menu.

Generate API Token

Click "Generate" to create a new API token. Note: You can only have one active token at a time. Generating a new one will invalidate the previous token.

Copy Your Token

Copy the token immediately and save it somewhere secure. You won't be able to see it again after leaving this page.

Important: Save this token securely

Find Your Account ID

Your Account ID is shown at the top of the API management page. It looks like "101-001-12345678-001" for practice accounts.

Enter Credentials in CandleSight

Launch CandleSight, go through the onboarding flow, and enter your API token and Account ID when prompted.
